- Nike started it's Air Max line in 1987 releasing the Air Max 1. In 1989, Nike released the Air Max 2, which was followed by the Air Max 3 in 1990. The Air Max 3 is also known as the Air Max 90 but not until it was reissued in 2000 taking its original name of its first year's launch
